5 signs your business needs a website (not just Instagram)
By Riri
I love Instagram. It’s where a lot of small businesses get discovered, and I’d never tell you to quit posting. But Instagram is a rented space. You don’t control the layout, the algorithm decides who sees you, and the important stuff (prices, hours, how to book) gets buried under last month’s posts. Here are five signs it’s time to add a real website next to it.
1. You answer the same DMs every day
“How much is a full set?” “Are you open Sunday?” “Where are you located?” If you type the same answers over and over, those answers belong on a page people can find on their own. A simple site with your services, prices and hours does that work for you, even at 2 a.m.
2. People search for you on Google
When someone hears about you from a friend, they usually Google your name. If nothing comes up, or only an old directory listing with the wrong hours, you can lose them right there. A website gives Google something real to show, with your name, your city and what you do.
3. You want people to book or call in one tap
On Instagram, a customer has to find the link in your bio, figure out where it goes, and hope it works. On your own site, the call button, the booking button and the directions button sit right at the top, exactly where a thumb expects them.
4. You look more established in person than online
Maybe your shop is beautiful, your work is amazing and your regulars love you. But someone who has never met you judges you by what they see on their phone. A clean, professional site makes a stranger trust you before they walk in.
5. You don’t want one app to own your business
Accounts get hacked. Reach drops. Platforms change their rules overnight. Your website and your domain are yours. Whatever happens to any one app, customers can still find you, see what you offer and get in touch.
The good news
You don’t have to choose. The best setup is both: Instagram to show off your day-to-day, and a website as home base that every post, bio link and business card points to.
